Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarships for International Students
Maastricht University (UM) in the Netherlands offers the NL-High Potential Scholarship program for highly talented students from countries outside the European Union (EU) who have been admitted to a Master’s program at UM. This scholarship program aims to support international students by providing full scholarships that cover living expenses, health and liability insurance, visa application costs, tuition fees, and pre-academic training costs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the NL-High Potential Scholarships, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Applicants must hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam.
- Double Nationality: Applicants should not hold a double nationality from an EU/EEA country.
- Admission: Applicants must have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2024-2025 academic year and meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen program.
- Education Background: Applicants should not have participated in a degree-seeking higher education program, primary education program, or secondary education program in the Netherlands. However, students who have completed exchange programs in the Netherlands are welcome to apply.
- Age: Applicants should not be over 35 years of age on 1 September 2024.
- Academic Excellence: Applicants must have obtained excellent results during their prior education programs, as demonstrated by their latest grade transcript or certified by academic excellence. Preference will be given to applicants who are among the top 5% of the 2023/24 scholarship program applicants.
Scholarship Benefits
The NL-High Potential Scholarships provide comprehensive financial support to international students. The scholarship covers the following expenses:
- Living Expenses: The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of €2,350 for 13 months or €1,750 for 25 months, depending on the duration of the Master’s program.
- Health and Liability Insurance: Applicants will receive coverage for health and liability insurance, which amounts to €700.
- Visa Application Costs: The scholarship covers the costs associated with the visa application, amounting to €210.
- Tuition Fee Waiver: The scholarship covers the tuition fee at the cost of the chosen Master’s program.
- Pre-Academic Training Costs: The scholarship also includes the costs of pre-academic training.
It is important to note that the NL-High Potential Scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Master’s program – 13 months for a one-year program and 25 months for a two-year program.
